Welcome to our Second Emergency Comms Members Journal. Our project and our first Journal has been very well received. We are so happy for the help and support of our members and supporting organisations that are enabling us to grow and continue on our journey to becoming the most accurate and respected open forum for what is happening in communications for Public Safety and Disaster Response.
We continue to expand our portfolio of members and are working with numerous organisations worldwide to provide you with this information, and I again would like to thank every one of them for their help and expertise. In this issue we take a closer look at the in-roads Tetra Radio is making in the North American Market and have relevant interviews with Télécoms Sans Frontières, the Tetra and Critical Communications Association, and several significant gear providers. We take a look at new products and emerging emergency communications solutions, including the impact of Social Media and Text-to-911.
I would like to thank Steve Goodman, our North American correspondent, who has taken on the role of Managing Editor for this and all future issues.
I would also like to particularly thank Mr. Hank Hunt for sharing the painful story of his daughter’s demise in our feature “When 911 Fails,” and we support his continuing efforts for the passage of “Kari’s Law” in her memory.
If you have any questions please email me and remember this is a free organisation to provide the correct information to the people who need it.
