Albanian patrol boat concludes navy’s first NATO tour
The Albanian Navy’s ALS ORIKU patrol boat on Wednesday (22 November 2017) wrapped up a full year of operations with NATO’s Standing Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2), marking a major milestone in the Albanian Navy’s first ever NATO deployment. Joining NATO’s Aegean mission in November 2016, the ALS ORIKU monitored and patrolled the waters between Turkey and Greece, supporting international efforts aimed at curbing human trafficking.

NATO trains Serbian civil servants in cyber defence
Civil servants from the Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection of the government of Serbia were trained to deal with information systems security (INFOSEC) in real life situations. The training took place in Belgrade and Tallinn from 30 October until 10 November 2017 as part of NATO’s Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

NATO Secretary General praises Estonia’s strong commitment to NATO
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid to NATO Headquarters on Thursday (23 November 2017). The two leaders met to discuss NATO’s continuing adaptation to the security situation in Europe. The Secretary General praised Estonia’s contributions to NATO missions, its leadership on defence spending, and support for NATO-EU cooperation. He also welcomed that Tallinn will be hosting NATO’s flagship cyber exercise, Cyber Coalition, next week, underlining Estonia’s expertise in cyber defence.

Secretary General: NATO supports a stable, secure and neutral Moldova
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip to NATO Headquarters on Thursday (23 November 2017). He praised NATO and Moldova’s 25-year-old partnership and reaffirmed the Alliance’s respect for Moldova’s neutrality. “Today we discussed how NATO and Moldova can build on our achievements,” Mr. Stoltenberg said. The Secretary General also announced the inauguration of the new NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau next month, calling it “another step forward in our partnership.”

Secretary General welcomes President of Azerbaijan to NATO Headquarters
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to NATO Headquarters on Thursday (23 November 2017) for talks on the Alliance’s partnership with Azerbaijan and regional security in the South Caucasus. President Aliyev also met with the 29 Allied ambassadors in the North Atlantic Council. Mr. Stoltenberg praised Azerbaijan’s commitment to NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan and its decision to increase troop contributions next year. He underlined that NATO’s practical cooperation with Azerbaijan is founded on a commitment to democratic values and covers many areas, from capability development to energy security.
