NATO trains Iraqi Security Forces to strengthen demining skills
In November and December this year, a mobile training team led by Slovakia conducted a training course in manual demining for Iraqi Security Forces. This was held in Iraq in the framework of NATO's training and capacity building activities in support of Iraqi security forces and institutions. It was developed and implemented in coordination with the NATO Core Team in Baghdad.

NATO Secretary General's holiday greetings to the troops
In his end of the year message to the forces working under NATO command, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg thanks the troops for their challeging work, such as serving in NATO's multinational deterrent forces in the eastern part of the Alliance, training Afghan troops, keeping the peace in Kosovo, and patrolling the Mediterranean and the Aegean Seas.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Rose Gottemoeller, visited Yerevan on Monday 18 December 2017 and met with President Serzh Sargsyan, with Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian, with Minister of Defence Vigen Sargsyan and with the President of the National Assembly, Mr. Ara Babloyan.

Statement by the North Atlantic Council on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty
For 30 years, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty has been crucial to Euro-Atlantic security. By removing an entire class of U.S. and Russian weapons – ground-launched intermediate-range missiles – the Treaty has contributed to strategic stability and reduced the risk of miscalculation leading to conflict. As such, full compliance with the INF Treaty is essential and we remain fully committed to the preservation of this landmark arms control treaty.

Chairman of NATO Military Committee visits Estonia affirming NATO’s commitment to collective defence
Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Petr Pavel, visited Estonia from 13 to 15 December 2017. During his visit, General Pavel met with HE Mrs Kersti Kaljulaid, President of Estonia, HE Mr Jüri Luik, Minister of Defence, General Riho Terras, Commander of Estonian Defence Forces as well as members of the National Defence Committee. While in Estonia, General Pavel also visited the NATO Force Integration Unit, NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, Baltic Defence College and NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group stationed in Tapa.

NATO Annual Report on Gender Perspectives in Allied Armed Forces: progress made in pre-deployment training and work-life balance
The third edition of the Summary of the national reports to the NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives (NCGP) is a digest of the statistics and progress made, in 2016, by the 28 NATO members and 13 partners on the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
