On Monday, 22 October 2018, the NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, will hold a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Professor Jacek Czaputowicz.

NATO-ICI Regional Centre Holds First Annual Review in Kuwait
On 30 September – 1 October 2018, NATO and Kuwait held the first annual review of activities at the NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) Regional Centre. An inter-ministerial delegation from the State of Kuwait, who are the focal points for implementation of the NATO-ICI Regional Centre’s Action Plan, met at the Centre in Kuwait with their counterparts from different NATO International Staff divisions, International Military Staff and Strategic Commands. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Fawaz Meshal Al-Sabah on the Kuwaiti side, and the Alliance’s inter-divisional delegation was led by Mr. Nicola de Santis, Head of the NATO Middle East and North Africa Section of the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division.

The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia¹ marked an important step on its road towards NATO membership on Thursday (18 October 2018), beginning two days of formal Accession Talks at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

US Marines land in Iceland in initial phase of exercise Trident Juncture
Around 90 US Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit landed at Keflavík on Wednesday (17 October 2018), marking the initial phase of NATO’s Exercise Trident Juncture 2018 in Iceland. The main phase of Trident Juncture will start in Norway on October 25. Arriving by MV-22 Osprey and CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters from the USS Iwo Jima, the Marines practised securing the airfield and key infrastructure, in cooperation with the Icelandic Police.

Berlin hosts NATO-Industry Forum 2018
The NATO-Industry Forum is the primary venue for strategic dialogue with the defence and security industry on NATO capability planning and development. Sponsored by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Forum is co-organised by Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General André Lanata, and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment, Mr Camille Grand.

NATO commemorates Battle of the Atlantic as US forces arrive in Iceland
Top US and Icelandic officials met in Reykjavik on Tuesday (16 October 2018) to commemorate the Battle of the Atlantic, World War II’s longest continuous military campaign. On a ceremony aboard the Icelandic Coast Guard Vessel THOR, Foreign Minister Gudlaugur Thor Thordarson and Admiral James G. Foggo III, Commander of NATO’s Joint Force Command Naples and US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa, jointly laid a wreath into the sea to honour all those who fell in the fight for freedom.
